Chargers face easy schedule in 2010
By Bud L. Ellis
In their quest to return to the AFC playoffs in 2010, the San Diego Chargers will enjoy a schedule that ranks near the bottom of the National Football League in toughness.
The Chargers, winners of 13 games and the AFC West division last season, only face four playoff teams during the upcoming season. The NFL has released its list of home games and road games; dates and times will be announced later this spring.
San Diego plays host to NFC West champion Arizona and AFC East champion New England. The rest of the home games feature a trio of teams that went 8-8 last season: Denver, Tennessee and San Francisco, and matchups with Kansas City, Oakland and Jacksonville.
Away from home, the Chargers travel to face AFC champion Indianapolis in one of the season’s marquee matchups. San Diego also plays at AFC North champion Cincinnati. The remainder of the road schedule features trips to Denver, Kansas City, Oakland, Houston, St. Louis and Seattle.
The Chargers’ schedule is tied with Seattle for 29th in the 32-team league, based on opponents’ win percentage last season.
